Directory HQ Lets Customers Track Traffic from Yahoo!™, Open Directory Project™, and LookSmart™

SiteSell.com today announced the launch of the Directory HQ, a reporting tool that allows Site Build It! (SBI!) customers to track Web site traffic coming from the major Web Directories. Directory HQ will show SBI! users the ranking of their Web site pages in the Yahoo!™, Open Directory Project™, and LookSmart™ Directories. 

Web directories differ from Search Engines in that they list sites that have been reviewed by a human editor. Search Engines use 'spiders', automated software programs that visit Web sites, then classify and rank each site based on a set of rules. Some Search Engines give better rankings to Web sites that are listed in human-edited directories. 

However, the fee can be several hundreds dollars to have a Web site listed in a Directory. "With the exception of Open Directory, it costs real money to list in a directory these days.
